Canteen expands beyond live-action tabletop with supersensory

Tabletop studio Canteen has recently partnered with the directing collective supersensory, marking a groundbreaking expansion beyond traditional live-action tabletop production. supersensory, a multi-disciplinary team of taste-appeal and filmmaking experts turned digital, specializes in creating photo-real CGI spots.

In their approach, supersensory’s food stylists meticulously cook, bake, pour, and prepare the product to achieve the best possible version. The product is then captured using a proprietary 3D scanner, transforming it into a digital representation. Working alongside live-action directors and cinematographers, the supersensory team proceeds to skillfully light, animate, and design camera movements that can be executed in real-time with remote supervision from the brand or agency.

Canteen Partner & Director Erik Dettle emphasizes their commitment to bridging the gaps between past, present, and future practices in tabletop production. By combining the strengths of live-action and CGI techniques, they aim to offer flexibility and complete creative control to their clients.
