“Black Panther,” “Stranger Things” dominate MTV Movie & TV Award noms

Black-Panther-Wakanda-Civil-War

Wakanda!

It’s official, Black Panther is king. At least for now. As the Marvel epic begins its awards run (it will get nominated for Best Picture in 2019 heard it here first), there is no better place to start than the fun and always spontaneous MTV Movie and TV Awards. Noms for this year were announced and T’Challa is coming for that Golden Popcorn with seven nominations.

Wakanda!

T’Challa and the Dora Milaje will claw for Best Movie; Scene Stealer for breakout Letitia Wright; and Best Villain for Michael B. Jordan’s Erik Killmonger. But Black Panther isn’t the only Marvel movie in the mix. Avengers: Infinity War (that little indie film) picked up three nominations. Go, Thanos.

Over on the TV side, 13 Reasons Why and Riverdale make their Movie & TV Awards debut with Riverdale High sweethearts Archie (KJ Apa) and Veronica (Camila Mendes) scoring a coveted Best Kiss nom, and Katherine Langford earning a nom for her harrowing work in the Netflix drama. But it’s that other Netflix show, Stranger Things, that proved to be as unstoppable as the Demogorgon with six noms overall.
