Pandora is calling—again. James Cameron unveiled a blazing new trailer and poster for Avatar: Fire and Ash, the third chapter in his record-shattering saga, opening December 19 exclusively in theaters across premium 3D formats (IMAX 3D, Dolby Cinema 3D, RealD 3D), plus ScreenX, 4DX, Cinemark XD and more.
The spot rockets viewers back into the bioluminescent wilds with Marine-turned-Na’vi leader Jake Sully (Sam Worthington), warrior Neytiri (Zoe Saldaña), and the ever-tested Sully clan. Beyond the familiar rainforests and reefs, Fire and Ash widens the map with ashlands, volcanic rimlands, and newly revealed Na’vi cultures—along with colossal, never-before-seen creatures that look bred for both wonder and war.
The footage promises Cameron’s signature blend of world-building, scale, and heart—dialed up with next-gen performance capture and native 3D designed to be felt as much as seen. Watch below:
To prime the return trip, Disney is re-releasing Avatar: The Way of Water in 3D for a one-week, theaters-only engagement starting October 3. The 2022 phenomenon earned $2.3B worldwide and took home the Academy Award for Visual Effects, consider this your refresher course in Pandora before the heat rises.
Fire and Ash is written by James Cameron with Rick Jaffa & Amanda Silver, from a story by Cameron, Jaffa, Silver, Josh Friedman, and Shane Salerno. The ensemble is as stacked as a Hometree: Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, Oona Chaplin, Cliff Curtis, Joel David Moore, CCH Pounder, Edie Falco, David Thewlis, Jemaine Clement, Giovanni Ribisi, Britain Dalton, Jamie Flatters, Trinity Jo-Li Bliss, Jack Champion, Brendan Cowell, Bailey Bass, Filip Geljo, Duane Evans Jr., and Kate Winslet.
New clans. New frontiers. New threats. If the trailer’s any indication, Pandora’s next chapter isn’t just bigger—it’s eruptive. December can’t come fast enough.
