Forget the Knicks parade parties. Madison Square Garden may be preparing for its biggest celebration yet: Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s reported wedding over the July 4th weekend.
According to reports cited by Page Six and The New York Times, the 36-year-old superstar and the 36-year-old Kansas City Chiefs tight end are preparing for a two-day celebration in New York, beginning with a smaller ceremony for close family and friends before a larger reception.
Neither Swift nor Kelce has publicly confirmed the plans. Representatives for both had not responded to requests for comment, according to Page Six.
The reports claim the couple, who have been together since the summer of 2023, are expected to hold an intimate gathering of around 100 guests, followed by a larger celebration that could include between 1,000 and 2,000 people.
According to The New York Times, the first gathering is expected to take place on July 2, with a larger celebration planned for July 3. Page Six previously reported in April that the couple was preparing to marry over the July 3 weekend.
Madison Square Garden would be a fitting venue for Swift, who has performed multiple sold-out concerts at the iconic Manhattan arena throughout her career.
Sources cited by Page Six claimed privacy has been central to the planning.
“Privacy was of number one importance to them both,” one source told the outlet.
Another insider added, “Everyone’s been sworn to secrecy.”
Page Six also reported that invitations were issued over the phone rather than by traditional mail to limit leaks.
The outlet further claimed that several of Kelce’s Kansas City Chiefs teammates had reservations at the Marriott Marquis in Midtown around the reported wedding date.
Still, even those close to Kelce appear to be keeping details vague. Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, fellow NFL tight end and Tight End University co-founder George Kittle said he had asked Kelce whether the celebration was happening at Madison Square Garden.
“I actually asked Travis last night, and he laughed at me, so,” Kittle said. “I’m half expecting there to just be a jumbo jet on a runway and they put us on a plane somewhere.”
The reported secrecy measures also appear to extend beyond the guest list. The New York Post reported that a permit application submitted by Winick Productions requested temporary street closures around Madison Square Garden and sought permission for a public tent outside the venue.
The rumored celebration would come after Swift wrapped her record-breaking Eras Tour, while Kelce continues to balance his NFL career with a growing presence in media and entertainment.
Swift’s catalog, spanning albums including Fearless, 1989, Folklore, and Midnights, along with the global success of the Eras Tour, has cemented her place as one of the world’s biggest recording artists.
Kelce, meanwhile, remains one of the most recognizable players in the NFL and a central figure in the Kansas City Chiefs’ recent championship era.
For now, the reported Madison Square Garden wedding remains unconfirmed. But if the reports are accurate, Swift and Kelce may be preparing for one of the most closely watched celebrity celebrations of the year.
