Director James Wan took to social media to update his fans about his health after a recent health scare that required him to be rushed to the emergency room.
He posted on his Instagram stories feed, where posts disappear after 24 hours, but fans on Twitter managed to snag a screenshot of his message. In the post, James Wan expressed his gratitude to Cedar Sinai for taking good care of him during the medical emergency.

Following Wan’s post, his wife, Ingrid Bisu, also shared a statement, describing the past few days and nights as extremely rough and scary. She mentioned the anxiety of rushing to the ER in the middle of the night and having to stay in the hospital. Ingrid praised Cedars Sinai for being the best and thanked the doctors, nurses, and technicians for their care and support. She reassured fans that James is now safe and on the path to recovery.
The director’s health situation bears similarities to a health scare that actor Jamie Foxx experienced back in April.
Currently, Wan is deeply involved in the post-production efforts for Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. The film is scheduled for release on December 20, 2023, and will serve as the concluding chapter in Zack Snyder’s DCEU (DC Extended Universe) before James Gunn reboots the cinematic universe with Superman: Legacy in 2025.
Rumors have circulated about the possibility of The Lost Kingdom delaying its release due to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike, which restricts stars from promoting their upcoming projects. However, as of now, there has been no official announcement regarding a shift in the release date.
Despite the potential for a cinematic universe reboot, Wan recently highlighted the standalone nature of The Lost Kingdom, encouraging fans to look forward to the film regardless of future developments in the DCEU.
