Apple tells touching motherhood story through Vision Pro

Apple

In celebration of Mother’s Day, Apple has released an emotionally resonant short film, A Gift for Mom, highlighting how its technology can preserve and relive life’s most cherished moments. Created by TBWA\Media Arts Lab, LA and directed by Goh Iromoto of PRETTYBIRD, the film demonstrates the powerful capabilities of spatial video capture on iPhone and playback on Apple Vision Pro.

The story centers on new parents Khulan and Sam Baasanjav, and the heartfelt gift Sam creates for his wife: a home movie documenting their baby’s first year, captured entirely in spatial video using an iPhone. The footage, edited and experienced through Apple Vision Pro, provides a deeply immersive way for Khulan to revisit milestones like their child’s first steps, first meal, and first time being held by his sister.

The film’s emotional climax comes when Khulan views the home video on Apple Vision Pro, visibly moved as she’s surrounded by vivid memories brought to life in three-dimensional space. It’s a moment that encapsulates Apple’s evolving vision for how technology can preserve not just images, but feelings. Watch below:

Iromoto worked closely with the family for over a year, compiling over 55 hours of footage, capturing everything from the baby’s earliest days at home to candid family interactions.

A Gift for Mom is available now on Apple’s YouTube channel and the brand’s official Instagram account ahead of Mother’s Day on May 11, 2025.
