Recently launched talent-focused production company Ampersand has announced Jennifer Gee as its Executive Producer. Gee will facilitate creative excellence among Ampersand’s roster of creators already known for producing award-winning content worldwide.
Linking up with Ampersand Managing Director Phillip Detchmendy, Gee has long held an admiration and respect for Detchmendy’s thoughtful, client-forward approach to managing companies. Matching his reputation with her strong production background, Gee brings a complementary list of talents that align with Ampersand’s mission to create top-level advertising with outstanding visionaries.
Early experience on the studio side working at Castle Rock and Twentieth Century Fox eventually brought Gee to her commercial producing career. Having produced at Furlined, as well as serving as Head of Production/Executive Producer at Partizan and HOP at Serial Pictures, Gee has been fortunate to work with some of the most esteemed directors in the industry.
These previous positions have teed up Gee to expertly foster Ampersand’s coterie of talent. When asked what makes this EP position different, she replied: “Phillip’s vision for Ampersand offers me an entirely fresh perspective about the kind of position I could curate for myself in this business. Ampersand represents the kind of environment that would define my career path. Work hard but create a world of friends, family and fun while making great films.”

Gee’s mission is clear, stating: “We envision a boutique company that revolves around the chemistry of creativity and outstanding filmmaking.” These aims include recalibrating the traditional production company model and infusing it with the distinct visions of Ampersand’s directors, while also scouting for fresh talent to add to the growing roster. With her sense of natural maternal warmth and passion for nurturing talent, Gee’s guiding presence enables and encourages directors at all stages of their careers to expand their creative palette.
Already, Gee is enjoying finding interesting opportunities for Ampersand’s directors as she and Phillip cultivate their distinct blueprint as a premiere production company. As she puts it, “We’re starting this company from the ground up and want to build it in a manner that’s our own formula – it’s something different, and it’s uniquely us.”
Reel 360 News wishes Jennifer the best of luck at Ampersand.
