Stuart Weitzman has launched its latest campaign film, How Lovely to Be a Woman, featuring an impressive cast of global ambassadors, including Aly Raisman, Christy Turlington, Issa Rae, Lucy Liu, and Ming Xi. This campaign celebrates modern womanhood, exploring both the pleasures and pressures women face today.

The campaign reimagines the song “How Lovely to Be a Woman” from the 1963 musical Bye Bye Birdie, transforming it into an empowering anthem that celebrates women’s strength, confidence, and resilience. Directed by Matvey Fiks, the film pairs Stuart Weitzman’s signature black-and-white aesthetic with real-world and archival footage, showcasing the multifaceted roles these women embody.

As the film unfolds, we see glimpses into the personal and professional lives of the five women, illustrating how they navigate and excel in their respective fields. Each ambassador shares their unique perspective on what it means to stand strong in the face of societal pressures:

Throughout the campaign, the women wear styles from Stuart Weitzman’s most iconic collections, including the 5050 over-the-knee boot, the STUART 100 PUMP, and the NUDIST II SANDAL. Aly Raisman, the Athlete Advocate, reclaims the gym as she transitions into a new era as a gymnastics analyst and advocate for abuse prevention and mental health. “I hope people remember me for normalizing hard and taboo topics.”

Christy Turlington, the Model Maternal Health Activist, uses her platform to advocate for maternal health through her nonprofit, Every Mother Counts. “I like that the campaign is about women sharing our personal stories about what it means to each of us to be strong and confident.”

Issa Rae, the Modern Mogul, continues to break barriers and create space for others in the entertainment and business worlds. “Prioritizing and building my community is very important to me.”

Lucy Liu, the Nonconforming Artist, balances her many roles as an actress, artist, and mother. “I hope to be remembered for uplifting others and using my platform to drive positive change.”

Ming Xi, the Balancing Beauty, seamlessly juggles motherhood and a global career. “I believe women can do it all, and my love of my job keeps me going.”

In conversation with bestselling author Lydia Fenet, Liu shared her personal experiences of claiming confidence, marking the debut of the “Stuart Weitzman Stand Strong Series”.

This discussion forum, set to continue throughout Fall 2024, aims to spark meaningful conversations about modern womanhood and encourage women to step into their confidence.
