Alkemy X adds director Laurence Thrush to roster

Award-winning global entertainment company Alkemy X has added director Laurence Thrush to its directorial roster.

His unique cinematic style is infused with his diverse skillet as a filmmaker, shaping his stunning visual storytelling to transform everyday moments into poetic and breathtaking vignettes. Thrush thrives working with non-actors, uncovering authentic human moments and interactions making his work feel familiar but elegant. Thrush has crafted powerful work for top clients including McDonald’s, Honda, Subway, Adobe, and Mastercard.

“The broad scope of work that Alkemy X produces at a consistently high level, as well as its diversification of services, is something that really appeals to me as a multidisciplinary filmmaker,” notes Thrush. “Their team is truly invested in the growth of their directors and I’m really thrilled to join the roster!”

As a young director, Thrushwas short-listed for the Best Young Director Award at the Clio Advertising Awards and the Cannes Lions International Festival. His first feature film, Left Handed was awarded Best Feature at The Milan Film Festival, The Rhode Island Film Festival, L’Aquila Film Festival and The Japan Film Festival. Pursuit of Loneliness, Laurence’s second feature film as a director, made its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival.

Originally based in London, Laurence began his career writing, producing, directing and editing several award-winning documentaries. He eventually expanded into commercial work and has since directed a variety of television commercials on a global scale. He was recognized at the Young Guns Advertising Awards and his campaign work for ESPN was acclaimed at the New York Art Director’s Festival, the Clios Awards, and he won a Bronze Cannes Lion. 

Thrush resides in Venice, California where he prefers to keep to English time on the weekends watching football when he is not shooting or editing. He also enjoys the cinema and listening to stand-up comedy.
