
The Alliance of Independent Reps (AIR) is introducing “Spot in a Pocket,” a new filmmaking challenge that puts creativity front and center, and in your pocket. Open to aspiring and seasoned filmmakers alike, this no-budget contest invites participants to shoot a 30-second commercial entirely on a smartphone, proving that big ideas don’t need big crews or costly gear.
Entrants can create a spec ad for either a real or imaginary brand, choosing from one of four categories and corresponding object prompts:
- Healthcare – Thermometer
- Finance – Wallet
- Sports – Whistle
- Household – Mop
Any genre or style is welcome, and filmmakers may use any editing software they like. The focus? Bold storytelling, ingenuity, and craft—all judged by a panel of top agency and production professionals.

- Deadline: Friday, September 19, 2025
- Spotlight Showcase: Monday, October 6, 2025
