The AICP National Board of Directors has elected a new leadership slate, appointing Tabitha Mason-Elliott, Partner at BARK BARK, as Chairperson and Sally Campbell, Founding Partner of Somesuch, as Vice Chairperson. The elections follow the tenure of Lisa Mehling, Owner/President of CHELSEA, who previously held the position of Chairperson.

Mason-Elliott, previously serving as Vice Chairperson, will now assume the role of Chairperson, overseeing the AICP’s Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Accessibility Committee alongside her new duties. Robert Fernandez, CEO of Moxie Pictures, has been re-elected Treasurer, bringing his experience to the role once again.

In the wake of the changing business landscape, Mason-Elliott and Campbell have set an ambitious agenda for the board, addressing challenges such as competition with agency in-house production, labor issues, and the ongoing evolution of DEI initiatives. Mason-Elliott expressed the board’s commitment to equipping members with strategic business approaches and fostering informed decision-making based on data and experiential insights.

“Our focus is on equipping our membership with an advanced educational outlook that fosters strategic business approaches, underpinned by data and experiential insights, to empower informed decision-making,” Mason-Elliott says. “Our deepest strength lies in the collective knowledge of our community, and we’re redoubling our efforts to leverage this wealth of intelligence to navigate and adapt to this shifting environment.”

Campbell, reflecting on her new role, expressed enthusiasm for collaborating with Mason-Elliott and leveraging the collective expertise of the board. She emphasized the importance of diversity and inclusion initiatives, calling for continued progress and awareness within the industry.

Mason-Elliott praised Campbell’s advocacy and unconventional approach, highlighting her valuable perspective as a business leader with international experience. Campbell, now the third woman to serve as Vice Chairperson of AICP, acknowledged Mason-Elliott’s historic election as the first person of color to hold the position of Chairperson.

“While Tabitha’s election is history-making for our association,” says AICP President and CEO Matt Miller, “more importantly, it’s a recognition of her role as a dedicated and effective leader in our industry. Her experience, insight and acumen as a producer bode well for our membership as we enter a phase of rapid transformation. The same can be said for Sally – they’re both proactive, forward-thinking professionals who have a deep grasp of the challenges we face. I’m excited to be working with them.”

The board’s renewed focus on diversity, inclusion, and member support reflects its commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive community within the industry. Mason-Elliott and Campbell’s collaborative leadership sets a promising direction for the AICP’s future endeavors.

In addition to the new officers, the AICP National Board re-elected six incumbents to serve a two-year term. The board also welcomed regional directors to represent various areas across the country, ensuring diverse perspectives and comprehensive leadership.
