McCain Foods partnered with adam&eveDDB New York to launch a bold new campaign celebrating National French Fry Day, starring actor, comedian, and cookbook author Eric Wareheim.
This campaign aims to elevate National French Fry Day, recognized annually on the second Friday in July, into everyone’s new favorite holiday, complete with the familiar tropes of festive season advertising such as carolers, homemade decorations, and family gatherings around tables filled with personal recipes.
Tracy Hostetler, Vice President, Marketing – NA Potato, McCain Foods shares, “French Fries are something everyone knows and enjoys – not only are they delicious and fun to eat but they are a universally loved food that helps bring people together. That’s why we chose to lean into this occasion – in a sea of national days – to celebrate the importance of togetherness with all the trappings of a real ‘holiday.’ adam&eveDDB knows holiday advertising, so we are excited to partner with them to turn National French Fry Day into America’s new beloved celebration.”
Wareheim fronts and directs (via Prettybird) the hilarious :60 spot, passionately educating his neighbor on the significance of National French Fry Day as a national holiday, portraying the ultimate fan boy. Watch below:

James Rowe, Managing Director, adam&eveDDB New York, notes, “We are excited to continue our partnership with McCain as we transform French Fry Day into a celebration worthy of its own national holiday. McCain is obsessed with bringing people together over the perfect French Fry, and we felt it was time to give that obsession the airtime it deserved. I never knew I needed French-Fry wrapping paper – but now I’ll be using it for all French-Fry related gifts.”
French Fry House in Chicago
McCain unveiled the World’s First French Fry House on July 12th and 13th in Chicago. This two-story house was adorned with an array of fry-themed decorations, from giant fry inflatables and French Fry themed holiday lights to trees and shrubbery covered in fry-naments, showcasing the ultimate testament to potato love.
Visitors joined the festivities by taking photos with the new holiday hero, ‘Father Frymas,’ or sampling McCain French Fries with various toppings (while supplies lasted) at 224 N Elmwood Ave, Oak Park, IL 60302.
The campaign will also leverage influencers who will share their spin on making this national holiday one to remember.
Regarded as one of the nation’s leading suppliers of frozen potato and snack food products, this campaign supports McCain’s goal to own National French Fry Day moving forward. It also emphasizes the brand’s core mission to celebrate real connections through delicious, planet-friendly food for busy parents who want to make food they feel good about and that their kids will love.
The “National French Fry Day” campaign will be supported by digital, social, and online activations through July 21.
