Amid the backdrop of devastating wildfires sweeping across Los Angeles, the Screen Actors Guild announced the 2025 SAG Awards nominees via press release, bypassing the originally planned live event.
On the film side, Wicked emerged as the frontrunner, earning five SAG nominations, including Best Cast, Best Actress (Cynthia Erivo), Best Supporting Actress (Ariana Grande), Best Supporting Actor (Jonathan Bailey), and Stunt Ensemble. Close behind, A Complete Unknown received four nominations, including Best Actor for Timothée Chalamet’s portrayal of Bob Dylan and supporting nods for Edward Norton and Monica Barbaro as Pete Seeger and Joan Baez.
Other notable contenders include Emilia Pérez and Anora, each securing three nominations. Emilia Pérez saw nods for Best Cast, Best Actress (Karla Sofía Gascón), and Best Supporting Actress (Zoe Saldaña), fresh off her Golden Globe win.
Meanwhile, Anora earned nominations for Mikey Madison (Best Actress) and Yura Borisov (Best Supporting Actor). Golden Globe winners Demi Moore (The Substance) and Adrien Brody (The Brutalist) also made the list, alongside Kieran Culkin, recognized for his supporting role in A Real Pain.
On the television front, Shōgun leads with five nominations, including Best Ensemble in a Drama Series, where it competes with The Diplomat, Bridgerton, Day of the Jackal, and Slow Horses. The Bear, which follows with four nods, is in contention for Best Comedy Series Ensemble alongside Abbott Elementary, Hacks, Only Murders in the Building, and Shrinking.
SAG Awards host Kristen Bell also snagged a nomination for Best Actress in a Comedy Series for Nobody Wants This.
In light of the fires, SAG shared its support for the affected communities: “Our thoughts are with everyone impacted—residents, first responders, and all those working tirelessly to protect the community.”
