‘1, 2, 3, All Eyes on Me’ wins Grand Prix at HollyShorts

(1,2,3 All Eyes On Me qualifies for Oscar nom)

HollyShorts Film Festival has announced the 2020 winners of their “Sweet 16” year. 40 industry leaders and storytellers served on this year’s Jury to award 36 short films and screenplays out of over 400 official selections from the virtual festival.

Of the 36 awards, three were honored with the top prize of becoming qualified for the 2021 Academy Awards.

1, 2, 3, ALL EYES ON ME from director Emil Gallardo went home with the Oscar-Qualifying Grand Prix award which comes with a $15,000 Camera Package from Panavision.

Both Best Live Action WELCOME BACK by Tiffany K. Guillen and Best Animation o28 from Otalia Caussé, Geoffroy Collin, Lousie Grardel, Antoine Marchand, Robin Merle, and Fabian Meyran will also qualify for the upcoming Oscars. Student Academy Award Winner Karishma Dube won this year’s Best Director for her acclaimed short BITTU.

Prizes for this year’s awards are from: Panavision, Seattle Film Summit, Kodak, Film Augusta, 88th Street Productions, BECiNE, Klio Studio’s Producer Software for a majority of the winners, Final Draft, Color Space Finishing, DUST, ALTER, Circle of Confusion, and Bitpix distribution for all 2020 short films.

This year’s virtual Awards Ceremony was hosted by television presenter Amy Paffrath and pre-recorded at The Artists Project LA. The show included guest presenters and HollyShorts alumni Once Upon a Time’s Jennifer Morrison, The Way Back’s Janina Gavankar, Money Heist’s Luka Peros, 2019 Grand Prix Winner Jeremy Merrifield and an in memoriam tribute to HollyShorts alumni Chadwick Boseman and director David Rodriguez. As announced previously, BAD HAIR director Justin Simien received the 2020 Indie Maverick Award.

HollyShorts is excited to announce their first Festival Replay, where all opted-in 2020 official selections will be screening for a discounted price, along with the first annual HollyShorts Film Market, from November 16 – 22, 2020 on Bitpix.
