We are four months away from seeing how the 42-year-old, 9-episode Star Wars saga ends.

Saturday at D23, Disney’s annual convention for all things Disney in Anaheim, saw J.J. Abrams and the cast of The Rise of Skywalker present a sneak peek of the upcoming blockbuster.

Onstage to present the new footage and poster was director Abrams along with most of the film’s cast, including Daisy Ridley and Adam Driver.

While Abrams stated that the new trailer is not complete yet, he did screen special exclusive footage that included scenes from all of the past Star Wars films.

The shots included obligatory fleets of Star Destroyers and Rey (Ridley) and Kylo Ren (Driver) dueling on stormy seas. The biggest surprise was seeing Rey wielding a red, dual-bladed Sith lightsaber, similar to the one Darth Maul’s.

“Dark Rey” is now trending on Twitter. Watch below:

An exciting new poster was also unveiled.

The last two Star Wars films – The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi – were well-received and then were subject to fan backlash. The former, directed by Abrams, for being too close to A New Hope’s storyline and the latter, directed by Rian Johnson, for ignoring many of the story points Abrams set up.

We will see how Abrams ties this all up for Star Wars fans. Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will arrive in theaters on Dec. 20.
