FCB goes into epic battle with Cox Communications

FCB_Cox_Communications

I love a good Medieval battle and with Game of Thrones not showing up for another six months or so I was kind of itching for one. That is until I stumbled on this fun Cox Communications spot from FCB Chicago.

Appropriately titled ‘Epic Battle,’ the effort takes the nation’s third largest cable provider into conflict with other cable service providers.
In the spot, directed by A WHITELABEL Product’s Paul Middleditch, two medieval armies are preparing to go to war. The one side charges and the other prepares to defend. After a short charge, we see that the approaching horde is really just a couple of guys in a field. The tag states, “Battle scenes are better with extras.”

The effort, by FCB which really is becoming a creative powerhouse in Chicago, highlights ‘Xtras,’ a group of upgrades offered by Cox which give customers more entertainment for just $5 per month. This new effort is a continuation of the marketer’s larger ‘Everything is better with Xtras’ campaign.

‘Epic Battle’ broke in July and is currently running in key Cox markets, including Las Vegas, Phoenix, San Diego, New Orleans, Oklahoma City, Omaha, Providence and Roanoke.

I hope to see more of it as the film shot by DP Tom Sigel is absolutely beautiful and the humor is on point. My only ding with the spot is um, where are the dragons? Can’t have an epic battle without norse gods or hello? Dragons.
