One Show 2023 announces CMO Pencil Jury

The One Club for Creativity has assembled a panel of ten esteemed brand-side marketers to determine the recipient of the esteemed CMO Pencil Award. This award honors the marketer behind the year’s most influential idea that significantly impacted a brand’s business, selected from the top achievers in The One Show 2023.

These distinguished marketers will convene both in-person and virtually on September 20, 2023, to review 31 high-scoring entries sourced from Best of Discipline and multiple Gold Pencil winners. These entries have been carefully selected by the One Show jury consisting of nearly 300 creative leaders from 40 countries.

The CMO Pencil jury will then designate the CMO responsible for the single piece of work that they believe had the most profound impact on driving a brand’s progress. Esteemed global marketers composing this year’s One Show CMO Pencil jury include:

  • Zena Arnold, CMO, Sephora
  • Vikrant Batra, CMO, HP
  • Kate Jhaveri, Global Head of Marketing, TikTok
  • Todd Kaplan, CMO, Pepsi
  • Jeff Klein, CMO, Popeyes
  • Fernando Machado, CMO, NotCo
  • Kory Marchisotto, CMO, e.l.f.
  • Sejal Shah, CMO, Converse
  • Leslie Sims, CMO, CCO, Impossible Foods
  • Alicia Tillman, CMO, Delta Air Lines

Abiding by The One Show’s judging guidelines, the jury members abstain from voting on work related to their own companies.

The CMO Pencil award distinguishes itself within The One Show, as it recognizes an individual rather than a creative team, agency, or brand. It celebrates the exceptional role of the CMO in recognizing and nurturing outstanding work, highlighting: the collaboration between marketing leaders and both external and in-house agencies.

Past recipients of the CMO Pencil include luminaries such as Lorraine Twohill from Google, Raja Rajamannar from Mastercard, Kathleen Hall from Microsoft, David Rubin from The New York Times, and Stephen Tisdale from State Street Global Advisors. The award underscores the significant impact of innovative and bold ideas on brands and their financial success.

REELated:

Kevin Swanepoel, CEO of The One Club, emphasizes the distinction of the CMO Pencil, stating, “This prestigious award acknowledges a CMO’s remarkable achievement recognized by their peers. The jury of global marketing leaders will seek work that took a daring and creative stance, leaving a substantial positive impact on a brand’s success.”

The CMO Pencil serves as a facet of The One Club’s commitment to honoring the burgeoning brand-side creative community. The One Show and ADC Annual Awards encompass dedicated Brand-Side/In-House disciplines, featuring specialized juries comprised of brand-side creative peers.

Additionally, The One Club continues its WITHIN brand-side creative conference series, with the next event scheduled for September 21, 2023, in New York.
