New Superman trailer soars, David Corenswet is my Clark Kent

Superman

You might want to grab a tissue before hitting play—because the first full trailer for Superman has officially dropped, and it soars. With sweeping visuals, unexpected emotional punches, and the triumphant return of DC’s greatest hero, James Gunn’s upcoming reimagining of the Man of Steel is shaping up to be something truly special.

The trailer wastes no time introducing tension. In one standout moment, Lois Lane (Rachel Brosnahan) challenges Clark Kent (David Corenswet) on his decision to intervene in a war, hinting that even Superman’s best intentions have complicated consequences. Their chemistry is palpable—and so is the weight of Kal-El’s mission.

But it’s not just drama. We get a first real taste of the Justice League-lite supporting cast: Green Lantern (Nathan Fillion), Hawkgirl (Isabela Merced), and Mr. Terrific (Edi Gathegi) all get moments to shine, while The Engineer (María Gabriela de Faría) unleashes chaos inside the Fortress of Solitude. And let’s talk about Lex Luthor. Nicholas Hoult’s version looks completely unhinged, and we are here for it.

There’s even a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it shot of Ultraman, the twisted alternate-universe Superman, adding an extra layer of intrigue. But wisely, Gunn is keeping that card close to the chest… for now.

Visually, Superman looks like a million bucks—and probably cost closer to $200 million. The VFX are crisp, immersive, and cinematic (finally!) and they support a tone that marries mythic grandeur with heartfelt storytelling. One second we’re flying through Metropolis, the next we’re watching Superman contemplate what it really means to protect Earth. Watch below:

Corenswet, best known for Twisters and Hollywood, seems tailor-made for this new iteration. His Superman is earnest without being naive, and the trailer proves he can balance Clark Kent’s awkward charm with Kal-El’s godlike strength.

Superman marks the first theatrical release from the newly restructured DC Studios under the leadership of Peter Safran and James Gunn. The film stars:

  • David Corenswet as Superman/Clark Kent
  • Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane
  • Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor
  • Edi Gathegi, Anthony Carrigan, Nathan Fillion, Isabela Merced, Skyler Gisondo, Sara Sampaio, María Gabriela de Faría, Wendell Pierce, Alan Tudyk, Pruitt Taylor Vince, and Milly Alcock round out the all-star cast.

Behind the camera, Gunn reunites with frequent collaborators like cinematographer Henry Braham, production designer Beth Mickle, and composer John Murphy, joined by The Last of Us‘s David Fleming on music duties.

Produced by Troll Court Entertainment and The Safran Company, Superman lands in theaters July 11, 2025, and internationally beginning July 9.
