
Hyundai is kicked off the NFL season with the launch of its new advertising campaign for the 2024 Kona and Kona EV1 during the football kickoff game on Thursday, September 7, airing on NBC and Peacock.
The campaign, titled “Welcome Back to the Commute,” is designed to welcome consumers back to their daily commutes with the all-new Kona and Kona EV, emphasizing the vehicles’ class-leading safety and intuitive technology features.
Hyundai’s Chief Marketing Officer, Angela Zepeda, stated, “Football on Sunday night is TV’s most-watched prime-time show for 12 years running with an average of 19.9 million viewers in 2022. This year, we’re expanding our sports sponsorships to include football on Thursday on Amazon Prime, doubling the expected reach for our ads. There are so many places that people are watching sports today, and we want to make sure we’re meeting them wherever they are.”
The 60-second spot, “Welcome Back to the Commute,” highlights the features that can alleviate the stress of the daily commute, such as easy-to-use navigation, BlueLink+, unlocking the car with your phone using Digital Key, and Remote Smart Parking Assist.
The campaign was developed in collaboration with Hyundai’s advertising agency of record, INNOCEAN USA, and its media agency, Canvas. Watch below:

The automaker will push the Kona and Kona EV during the 2023 football season, as well as in high-profile baseball and soccer games this fall. They also plan to create custom social media content, including a video called “Thursday Night Commute,” which shows a football fan’s journey to get home before kickoff. The ad campaign will start soon.
Hyundai’s campaign aims to reach a wide audience of football fans and commuters as more companies in the United States mandate a return to in-office work, bringing many drivers back to their regular commutes. The company believes that the Kona and Kona EV are well-suited to meet the needs of these consumers during their daily journeys.
