Gene Simmons recovering after Malibu car crash

KISS co-founder Gene Simmons is recuperating at home after a car crash in Malibu on Tuesday, Oct. 7, that briefly sent him to the hospital, according to local reports.

The collision occurred just before 1 p.m. in the 25600 block of Pacific Coast Highway. A spokesperson for the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station confirmed an accident involving a black Lincoln Navigator that struck a parked vehicle; the driver was transported for treatment and may have suffered a medical emergency before the crash. NBC4 later identified the driver as Simmons, reporting the SUV crossed multiple lanes before impact.

Simmons, 76, is “recovering at home,” his wife Shannon said, adding that doctors recently adjusted his medication. No additional details on injuries were immediately available, and authorities did not publicly identify the driver in their initial statement.

Simmons’ scare comes as another KISS alum, guitarist Ace Frehley, recently canceled the remainder of his 2025 tour, citing ongoing medical issues following a studio fall. Meanwhile, the band’s original lineup, Simmons, Paul Stanley, Frehley, and Peter Criss, is slated to reunite Nov. 14–16 in Las Vegas for “KISS Kruise: Land-Locked,” a 50th-anniversary celebration and the group’s first performance since retiring from touring in 2023.

“We’re going to play… do Q&As… there’s going to be everything that people expected on the KISS cruise,” Stanley said earlier this year. Representatives for Simmons have not yet commented further.
