First Look: HBO unveils first look at IT prequel series

HBO has released first-look images for the highly anticipated drama series IT: Welcome to Derry, set to premiere in 2025. Developed by IT and IT Chapter Two filmmakers Andy and Barbara Muschietti and Jason Fuchs (Wonder Woman, Argylle), the series dives deeper into Stephen King’s IT universe, expanding on the dark world first brought to life in the hit films.

The nine-episode prequel series will be available to stream on Max, with Andy Muschietti directing four of the episodes.

The series is rooted in the terrifying world of Stephen King’s IT, revisiting the haunting town of Derry and exploring untold stories that set the stage for Pennywise’s return. The series promises to bring new depths to the horror and mystery established in Muschietti’s cinematic adaptations of King’s novel.

The cast includes Taylour Paige, Jovan Adepo, Chris Chalk, James Remar, Stephen Rider, Madeleine Stowe, Rudy Mancuso, and Bill Skarsgård, who is expected to reprise his role as the iconic Pennywise. Take a look below:



The series is produced by HBO and Warner Bros. Television, with story contributions from Andy and Barbara Muschietti and Jason Fuchs. Executive producers include the Muschiettis (through Double Dream), Fuchs, Brad Caleb Kane, David Coatsworth, Shelley Meals, Roy Lee, and Dan Lin. Fuchs, who penned the teleplay for the first episode, joins Kane as co-showrunner on the project.
