Disney Entertainment thrilled audiences at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, with a series of exciting announcements about its upcoming films and series. The event, held at the Honda Center, showcased Disney’s continued leadership in creating cultural events through innovative storytelling. One major highlight was the reveal of the Moana 2 trailer by Dwayne Johnson (Black Adam, Jungle Cruise, Fast & Furious Franchise).
Among the highly anticipated updates were new films and series, including Walt Disney Animation’s Zootopia 2, Pixar’s Toy Story 5, Disney’s Snow White, and Marvel Television’s Agatha All Along. These reveals reinforced Disney’s reputation as the premier company for delivering captivating and creative entertainment experiences.
Alan Bergman, Disney Entertainment Co-Chairman, expressed excitement about sharing these announcements with Disney’s most dedicated fans. “Tonight’s lineup showcased the wide range of exceptional movies and shows that we can’t wait to bring to audiences over the next few years. The Showcase kicked off with a lively performance featuring singing, dancing, and Johnson, who hyped up the crowd for one of the year’s most anticipated films, Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Moana 2. Auliʻi Cravalho, the voice of Moana, performed a brand-new song, We’re Back, alongside dancers and a band. Johnson, who voices the demigod Maui, engaged the audience in a call and response that resonated throughout the Honda Center in Anaheim, California.
The event also debuted a new trailer and poster for Moana 2, which is set to open in theaters on November 27. The original Moana was a major success, grossing nearly $700 million in 2016 and becoming a hit on streaming platforms. It was the most-streamed film of 2023 across all platforms in the U.S., according to Nielsen’s 2023 streaming viewership report. Watch below:
