After months of anticipation, Doritos officially announced its Crash the Super Bowl contest winner, bringing an out-of-this-world twist to game day advertising. The winning commercial, “Abduction”, created by Dylan Bradshaw and Nate Norell, imagines a scenario where even extraterrestrials can’t resist the bold flavor of Doritos.
The fan-created ad beat out thousands of submissions before being chosen as the top spot, earning a $1 million grand prize and an all-expense-paid trip to New Orleans for its creators to watch Super Bowl LIX live.
The ad, which will air during the first quarter, was selected through a public voting process on YouTube after Doritos narrowed its competition to three finalists. This year’s contest once again reinforced the brand’s For the Bold mantra, encouraging boundary-pushing creativity from aspiring filmmakers.
In “Abduction,” a man is attacked by a UFO while trying to eat his bag of Doritos. The man loses the tug-of-war with the UFO, and the chips fly into the UFO, causing it to explode. The man and an alien then share the chips. Watch below:
“‘Abduction’ is the ultimate embodiment of Doritos’ For the Bold ethos,” said Tina Mahal, senior vice president of marketing at PepsiCo Foods North America. “Bradshaw and Norell truly pushed the bounds of creativity, and we’re thrilled to showcase their vision on the biggest stage in advertising. We know the spot will inspire our fans to continue stepping outside of what is expected.”
Meet the Creators Behind ‘Abduction’
The creative minds behind the commercial, Dylan Bradshaw and Nate Norell, are best friends and co-directors who have spent years honing their craft.
Bradshaw, originally from Columbus, Ohio, moved to Los Angeles in 2020 with nothing but a dream, while Norell, born in the Dominican Republic, discovered his love for filmmaking at 16 years old before earning a Cinema and Media Arts degree from Biola University.
Together, the duo has worked with some of the world’s biggest brands and public figures, using their talents to bring bold storytelling to life. Their journey from aspiring filmmakers to Super Bowl commercial winners serves as an inspiration to creatives everywhere, proving that passion, perseverance, and bold ideas can lead to extraordinary opportunities.
