In a spectacle that seemed straight out of reality television, Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump manned the fry station at a McDonald’s in Feasterville-Trevose, Pennsylvania, on Sunday, before hosting a news conference from the restaurant’s drive-thru window.

During the visit, Trump, who has long been a fan of McDonald’s, learned how to dunk fries in oil and box them up without touching them. The former president expressed his surprise at the no-touch fry process, jokingly stating, “It requires great expertise, actually, to do it right and to do it fast.”

His visit to McDonald’s came as part of an effort to counter Kamala Harris’ campaign stories about her college days working at the fast-food chain. Trump has claimed, without evidence, that Harris’ story isn’t true, although representatives from McDonald’s have not commented on Harris’ employment history.

As Trump greeted supporters from the drive-thru window and handed out food, he fielded questions from the press, taking on topics like the upcoming election and economic issues. When asked if he’d support an increase in the minimum wage, he dodged the question but acknowledged the hard work of McDonald’s employees, calling their process “beautiful.” He even took a moment to wish Harris a happy 60th birthday, quipping that he might send her flowers.

This unusual fast-food press conference attracted a large crowd in Bucks County, a key swing area, underscoring Trump’s effort to maintain a high profile as the election nears.
