Our friends at 72andSunny continue to bolster its talent with new leadership hires out of its New York office which include: Elaine Cox serving as executive creative director, Robyn Makinson, design director, Ana Bermudez, director of brand management and Ashley Smith, group brand director.

“Since day one our vision has been to deliver head-turning creativity that has an impact on culture and business,” said Carlo Cavallone, global co-chief creative officer and partner, 72andSunny. “Elaine, Robyn, Ana and Ashley are world class leaders who have a track record of making  great work, and establishing successful relationships with brands, which led to some memorable results”

These appointments are on the heels of recent 72andSunny New York wins including Hubspot.

Elaine Cox, executive creative director 

Award-winning creative, Elaine Cox joins 72andSunny as an executive creative director who embodies work that stems from: connection. Prior to her new role she worked at Heat working on brands including: Bomb Pop, Halo Top, AAA Insurance, PepsiCo, Uber, She Can Stem, among others. 

In 2019, she was a leader behind the pioneering effort of Let’s Get Consensual, a series of experiential, social, and digital initiatives that facilitated conversations around physical and sexual consent. Before that Elaine worked at Pereira & O’Dell and FCB for clients like Electronic Arts, Kikkoman, Hotwire, Warner Brothers Games, Campari, Levi Strauss & Co and Hyatt. 

Over this past year she has judged the One Show, launched eight campaigns for major brands like Mountain Dew and Activision, headed multiple AOR pitch wins, and lead one of TikTok’s most inspiring campaigns.

Robyn Makinson, design director

72andSunny welcomes English born graphic designer, Robyn as design director. 

With eight years of industry experience, Robyn brings her approach for clear, design-forward thinking to 72andSunny and its brand partners. 

Most recently she served as head of design for TBWA\Chiat\Day New York and prior as a designer at Ogilvy Paris and New York where she was part of the award-winning campaign, ‘Type with Pride,’ a typography driven LGBTQ initiative that was recognised at D&AD, Cannes Lions, One Show, Clios, among many others.

Ana Bermudez, director of brand management

Ana joins 72andSunny as the director of brand management overseeing the Brand department for the New York office. 

With more than 20 years of industry experience, Ana has worked across the globe in Barcelona, New York, Boulder and Miami and most recently served as the VP, managing director at The Community, where she played a leading role in overseeing and expanding the largest book of business for the agency, which included Verizon among other world-class brands like Kroger, Saucony, Bank of America, CNBC and Alzheimer’s Association. 

Ana also served as group account director for Alma DDB on the McDonald’s, Diageo, and Goodyear businesses. Prior to that, she was a management supervisor at Crispin, Porter + Bogusky for six years. During this time, Ana worked in the US and European markets, leading top sales results for Old Navy under the supermodelquins campaign, and leading Pan-European and local campaigns in Spain and Germany for Burger King. Ana was part of the team that reignited the Burger King brand in Europe by introducing the iconic King to European markets. 

Ashley Smith, group brand director

Ashley joins 72andSunny as a group brand director, overseeing many of New York’s growing client partnerships.

As an instinctive leader with over 15 years of industry experience, Ashley aims to be a co-creator of insightful, break-through work. She joins 72andSunny after an exciting eight-year stint as a freelance brand leader and producer, working with some of the world’s brightest creative agencies in the US and Australia. She has a breadth of category experience, having developed global, integrated campaigns for clients like Samsung, HP, Diageo, Red Bull, Comcast, Chevrolet, Coca-Cola and Yahoo! Her entrepreneurial background, brave thinking and genuine interest in consumer insights are strengths she’s excited to share with the 72andSunny family.
