Schmigadoon! is marching to Broadway in 2026

Schmigadoon!

The Golden Age spoof that stole Apple TV+ hearts, Schmigadoon!, will kick up its heels on Broadway next spring—previews begin April 4, with opening night on April 20, and the limited run will continue through September 6.

The stage adaptation of the Apple TV+ series will take up residence at the Nederlander Theatre for a limited engagement, with previews starting on April 4, 2026, and the opening night on April 20. The final performance is scheduled for September 6. Casting and the full creative team are still TBA. Created for the stage by series mastermind Cinco Paul, who supplies book, music, and lyrics, the Broadway version tracks the show’s first-season plot.

In the original series, New York doctors Josh and Melissa (played by Keegan Michael Key and Cecily Strong on TV) try to rekindle their relationship on a couples’ backpacking retreat—and wander into Schmigadoon.

In this bewitched town, everyone lives inside a Golden Age musical. The locals keep bursting into song, the bridge out of town loops back on itself, and there’s only one way to leave: find “true love”…which might not be with each other. Expect the Emmy-winning “Corn Puddin’,” the Grammy-nominated score, and new numbers added for the stage.

If the title feels Broadway-ready already, that’s because the show had a buzzy world premiere at the Kennedy Center earlier this year under series choreographer Christopher Gattelli, setting the tone—and the tap—before this Broadway bow.

Schmigadoon! premiered on Apple TV+ in 2021, followed by a 2023 second season, Schmicago, riffing on ’70s musicals like Pippin, Godspell, and Sweeney Todd. While Apple canceled a third TV season mid-production, Paul has said he aims to bring all three eras to the stage.

Lorne Michaels leads the producing team (joined by Micah Frank and Caroline Maroney for Broadway Video, plus Christine Schwarzman and Megan O’Keefe for No Guarantees Productions). The Telsey Office will handle casting, with TT Partners on general management. Ticketing details will be available soon at SchmigadoonBroadway.com.
