Dustin Kaufman leads Cutters’ expansion into KC

Longtime Chicago post house Cutters Studios announced the promotion of Dustin Kaufman to the position of editor, and the immediate launch of a new satellite studio in Kansas City, which Kaufman will lead.

“Dustin is extremely creative and visionary, but he is also one of the most driven, determined, hard-working individuals I have ever had the pleasure of working with,” Cutters partner and editor Matt Walsh shared. “He cannot help but create amazing things, no matter what circumstances surround him. Nimble Media creates 1,000 videos for elite universities

Director/producer John Yaworsky recently completed one of the biggest homework assignments of his life: 1,000 video pieces for Georgetown and Johns Hopkins Universities.

“I learned a lot,” says the owner of Wilmette’s Nimble Digital Media.

Over a span of 33 months, Yaworsky and his team provided strategy and created online content to supplement 70 graduate level digital courses at both of the elite Eastern institutions. Among the subjects they covered were technology management, ethics, sports industry management and real estate.

An exclusive with the shop that built FCB’s “Teddy Gun”

Hero Solutions’ Ira Amyx and Jay Neander knew just what to do when advertising agency FCB Chicago asked them to fuse a stuffed animal with a firearm.

“We made a metallic-silver looking teddy bear with a pistol coming out of his face,” says Neander. “The bear was 3d printed and then re-coated and finished.”

“The gun was a .357,” adds Amyx. “We cast a real one and made a fake one.”

Optimus Audio promotes Marina Bacci, Ben Treimer

Chicago production and post house Optimus dialed up its sonic capabilities by promoting Marina Bacci to Senior Audio Engineer and Ben Treimer to Audio Engineer last week.

Highland Park native Marina joined Optimus as an intern shortly after graduating from DePaul University with a BS in Sound Recording Technology in 2008. Within nine years, her responsibilities had grown to include running the main audio studio and overseeing the audio department.

“Femme Pyre” launches new era of film collaboration

“Femme Pyre,” Saturday night’s carnival themed fancy dress party at Camera Ambassador, prompted hundreds of guests to keep going until Sunday morning. This may have been due to the fact that there was a kissing booth, tarot card readers and at least three different kinds of dancers (belly, burlesque and go-go); but still, the event actually made “networking” fun.
