Reel Octoberfest: Thursday Oct. 26, 5-10 p.m.

In less than a week, Reel Chicago and October TV will celebrate the greatest month of the year with beer, brats, and four tents full of fun.

The first annual Reel Octoberfest gets underway at 5 p.m. on Oct. 26. An absolutely free and wide-open celebration, the autumn bash promises to multiply the seductive mystique of Halloween by ten.

“You get to wear hoodies with shorts in October,” explains October TV Executive Producer Chris DeWinter. “It’s such a great month.”

Besides the joy of donning seasonally contradictive outfits, this is the month when October TV was founded and named in honor of a quote by Nelson Algren. Lederhosen is encouraged. Costumes and regular clothes are welcome.

The fest will occupy the parking lot of October TV’s new 5,000 sq-ft space at 400 N. Paulina, just a few blocks away from the intersection of Grand and Ashland Ave.

Also, there will be Bavarian-style party hats.

A signature variety of German Pilsner will be served all night. Supplied by On Tour Brewing, which is located right around the corner, the supply can be replenished with ease if necessary. White wines will also be available for those who like it sweet.

The brats will be prepared and served by grillmasters. Sounds will keep everyone moving.

We here at Reel Chicago are wildly enthusiastic about good times inspired by beer and brats in a party tent.

Plus, Bavarian-style party hats.

So come one, come all. But if you want a lid, come early, because those are among the few supplies that are limited.
