Optimus Audio promotes Marina Bacci, Ben Treimer

Marina Bacci and Ben Treimer

Chicago production and post house Optimus dialed up its sonic capabilities by promoting Marina Bacci to Senior Audio Engineer and Ben Treimer to Audio Engineer last week.

Highland Park native Marina joined Optimus as an intern shortly after graduating from DePaul University with a BS in Sound Recording Technology in 2008. Within nine years, her responsibilities had grown to include running the main audio studio and overseeing the audio department.

Along the way, her reel grew to include national broadcast spots and several other forms of emerging media handled by Optimus.

“We are working more on long format pieces such as web series, short films, and feature length films,” she explains. “We love having the opportunity to meet new clients and collaborate creatively.”

Marina’s achievements include work on Johnsonville’s Get Fired Up, which was directed by Optimus in-house duo Mark & Amanda. It features one of the catchiest percussion tracks ever to accompany slow motion footage of sausages on a grill.

Ben came to Optimus as an audio assistant in 2012 after working his way up from intern to head audio engineer with Nashville’s Teleprompt Records and Lyntt Music. He spent the next five years at Optimus as an audio assistant with responsibilities including sound design, voiceover recording and audio mixing.

He has been handling his own sessions in the company’s fourth floor audio room since mid-2015. Besides working on dozens of spots, he helped finesse the excruciating drama of a fictitious voiceover session portrayed in the hilarious, award-winning short, No Other Way to Say It by ONE at Optimus collaborator, Hog Butcher.

Optimus audio can be heard on commercial work for the Chicago Blackhawks, CDW, Huggies, JCPenny, Glade, Olive Garden, Always, Payless, Marriott, Blue Cross Blue Shield, McDonalds and more.
