Well, didn’t see that coming.
But where else would you expect to find Twisted Sister’s Dee Snyder, Ron Jeremy in Crocs and Dread Central’s Uncle Creepie than the 10th Anniversary screening of the indie horror cult classic, Hatchet?
Or was it?
After addressing a packed Arclight Hollywood with an emotional speech about the impact that late directors Wes Craven and George Romero had on him, director Adam Green transformed an initially stunned audience into a room full of whooping fanatics.
This was not a 10th anniversary screening of Hatchet, but the premiere of a 4th new Hatchet film simply named after the title character, Victor Crowley. You can watch the first trailer below:
Victor Crowley’s ensemble cast features the return of Kane Hodder, who made his mark playing Jason in four Friday the 13th films and Hatchet survivor Parry Shen. It also features Laura Ortiz (2006’s The Hills Have Eyes), Dave Sheridan (Scary Movie), and Brian Quinn (truTV’s “Impractical Jokers”).
Last night a grateful and humble Green said to the crowd, “I couldn’t be happier to partner with Dark Sky Films and bring Victor Crowley back to horror fans around the world. Resurrecting the series for its tenth anniversary was our way of saying thank you to everyone in The Hatchet Army and beyond who have supported this series since its inception. This bloodbath is for all of you.”
Victor Crowley earned a standing ovation after its London premiere on Sunday night. It will screen in select U.S. theaters in October 2017 as part of Dark Sky Films’ “Victor Crowley Road Show.” Writer / director Adam Green and other cast members will introduce the film at special one-night events.
The film is reportedly slated to play Chicago in either October or November. If you have a taste for over-the-top gore served with a side of campy humor, then you’ll be pleased with this third crowd-pleasing sequel in the Hatchet series.
People died in Nicole Bauer’s film
Earlier this year we reported on short film created by the film students at the College of DuPage called People Die in This Movie. The Reel just received a note from director Nicole Bauer that the film has now reached picture lock status. So, we should be seeing a trailer here soon.
