There are a lot of reasons to join the Chicago Acting in Film Meetup group’s annual signature celebration — aka the “Holiday Hurrah” — on Monday Dec. 11 at the Carbon Arc Bar & Board in Lincoln Square.

Besides serving hors d’oeuvres and offering an hourlong drink ticket followed by music and dancing, the event brings together a stunning variety of people involved in the Chicago film community.

This is where busy actors, working directors, established producers, and published writers meet and mingle with new talent. There’s also a chance to play some games and win some prizes — a diversion that was worth hundreds of dollars to the lucky winner of the 50/50 raffle at the organization’s 10th anniversary celebration in August.

The winnables at this year’s event include an Ulta Beauty Gift Basket, the book AuditionPsych 101 by actor Michael Kostroff, VIP Passes for the Knox Music Showcase at Fort Knox Studios, and “30 Minutes With Producer Angie Gaffney.”

Additionally, a newly-framed poster of Broadway actress Della Fox valued at $900 offers an extra special incentive for collectors.

According to CAFM Board President Matt Schaefer, the range of prizes includes something for everybody.

“While actors have loved our raffle prizes of classes and coaching,” he says, “we’re proud to offer a variety of other prizes for everyone to win. From sports fans to theater goers, we’ve got you covered.”

“You might even wrap up your holiday shopping at our party,” he adds.

CAFM has been helping actors co-mentor each other and connect with the film production community since 2007. Besides monthly educational events, membership includes public and industry events like Summer Socials, CIMMFest panels, and an Actors Clothing Swap.

CAFM has also hosted “Happy Hours” with the Chicago Creatives Cocktail Party (CCCP), partnered with Community TV Network (CTVN), and helped nonprofits like the Food For Friends program at Church of Our Saviour.

The Hurrah happens on Monday Dec. 11, from 7 to 11 p.m., at Carbon Arc Bar & Board (4614 N. Lincoln Ave.). For more information, click here.
